• As a business, how do I rent storage space?

  Business customers have three options for renting storage at Shurgard:

• What documents do I need to provide to rent a storage unit as a business?

  Please provide us with:

  • Evidence of the link with the company (e.g business card) and a valid photo ID.
  • Your bank details to set up Direct Debit.

Choosing storage space

• How do I know what size storage space will meet my storage needs?

  There are two ways to determine the size of storage space you need:

  • Use our online storage size estimator.
    Here you can indicate which items you want to store and the estimator will do the calculation for you.
  • You can also contact one of our staff and they will help you determine the suitable storage size. Call us on 0200 12 51 48 or call a Shurgard location in your area.

Access and security

• Can I give my suppliers access to my storage unit or units?

  It is possible to give your suppliers access to your storage unit or units at Shurgard. This means you don’t have to be present each time a new delivery arrives.

  Each person you want to allow to access your storage unit or units will receive a personal access code, which means it is always clear who accessed your storage unit or units and when.

  You can also request an overview of this information.

• I would like to know who accessed my storage unit and when. Is that possible?

  On request the manager at your Shurgard location can provide you with a handy overview of the times at which your storage unit was accessed and by whom.

• Can I give various employees access to my storage unit or units?

  At Shurgard it is possible to provide several access codes for your staff or suppliers.

  This is easily arranged in consultation with our staff at the your Shurgard location.

  Each person you want to allow to access your storage unit or units will receive a personal access code, which means it is always clear who accessed your storage unit or units and when.

• I have lost the key to my storage unit. What should I do?

  If you lose the key to your storage unit you should report it to the on-site manager at your Shurgard location.

  As we don't keep a copy of your key, in consultation with you we can have the lock drilled open by a locksmith.

• I have forgotten my personal access code, what should I do?

  If you have forgotten your personal access code you can request a new one from the on-site manager at your Shurgard location.

  For security reasons we only give the new code to the person who entered into the rental contract.

  This means that you can only get the new access code on presenting valid ID.

Moving, transport

• What is the easiest way of bringing my belongings to the Shurgard facility?

  All our locations are accessible by van or small lorry, some locations have a high drive-in enabling you to drive your van or lorry right up to the building, which speeds up loading and unloading.

  There are also exterior storage units at some locations where you can park your vehicle directly in front of your storage unit.

• How can I protect my property against damage during transport?

  To prevent any damage to your belongings during transport, you should take care when packing them up.

  You can buy various packing materials such as moving boxes, wardrobe boxes, various covers, wrap foils and tape at your Shurgard location.

• What is the easiest way of moving my belongings through Shurgard premises?

  Large trolleys are available at all Shurgard locations. This means you do not have to carry your belongings but can easily ride them to your storage unit for quick loading and unloading.

Contract and payment

• What is the minimum rental period at Shurgard?

  You can rent your storage unit for as short as one week. Just inform the manager at your Shurgard location about your planned move out date when you sign your contract.

  As soon as the contract is signed you can store your belongings at Shurgard.

• What is the notice period of my rental contract?

  Notice must be received by us at least 15 days before the start of the following billing period.

• How do I cancel my rental contract?

  Notice must be given in writing – either by e-mail, post, fax or at your Shurgard location.

  The notice must contain your name, your unit number and the date of cancellation.

  You must ensure that your notice is received by us at least 15 days before the start of the following billing period.

• How does Shurgard invoice my storage units?

  Depending on the rental contract, payments can be made monthly, quarterly or annually.

• As a business, do I have to pay a deposit when entering into a rental contract?

  No, you do not have to pay a deposit when renting a storage unit with Shurgard.

• Do I have to pay VAT on unit rental?

  VAT is only applicable for business customers. The prices shown on our website are VAT exclusive.
