How Shurgard quotes self-storage prices, what are included and other costs

Unlike many other self-storage operator, we show our prices online so you can check how much it costs per week and any special offers.
Below are the frequently asked questions about self-storage prices at Shurgard.
You’re in the driving seat when it comes to how much you spend on self-storage.
You choose the location, unit size and type, as well as the rental period. So you can perfectly tailor your unit to your own budget and needs.
Have look at the starting prices for our various unit sizes. Our prices are by the week and include VAT.
The rental price is determined by several elements:
- Location: rental prices can vary from one Shurgard location to another. Renting a unit in the city centre can be more expensive.
- Unit size: our storage units range in size . The larger your unit is, the cheaper by square feet.
- Unit features: depending on the level of accessibility of the unit, rental prices can vary. If you want to drive a vehicle directly to the door of your unit, it will be more expensive. Alternatively, if you don’t mind using the lift or your unit being an irregular shape, the rental price will be cheaper.
- Access to your unit 7 days a week between 6am and 11pm (some locations may have slightly different access hours, see your location page)
- Parking at the facility
- Expert advice and customer service on-site
- Use of our trolleys to easily load and unload
These are the only extra costs new customers may need to pay:

A one-off administration fee
We charge a one-off administration fee of £20 when you sign your first contract with us. Returning customers don’t have to pay this fee. -
Lock
You may need to buy a new, sealed lock for £14.90 if your own lock does not fit, to guarantee no one else can access your storage unit.

Although we make sure all our stores are fully insured, for your own peace of mind and protection, you’ll need to get protection for your stored items against loss or damage.
Our rental prices can’t include the fee for SHURProtect because the fee of this service depends on the maximum protection you need to protect your interests. The replacement value of your goods shall define the level of protection you need.
How SHURProtect protects your belongings in storage.
No. The administration fee of £20 is a “one-off” cost, meaning you only have to pay it once. When you rent a unit later in the future, you won’t have to pay this fee again.
No. Unlike other storage companies, we don’t ask for a deposit when you reserve or rent it your storage unit. You only begin paying the day you move in.
At Shurgard we don’t play the price match game. Instead we simply quote you our best price. We pride ourselves for providing you the best value at the best price.
Yes. We occasionally have special offers on selected units and at selected facilities. Sometimes, these special offers can even be combined.

- £1 or 50% off first month: this offer applies to the first month’s rent of your storage unit and is valid for new customers only.
- Online Special: you get a price reduction on your monthly rent if you book a storage unit online.
- Special Prices: this price reduction applies to the monthly rent of your storage unit.
- Best Deals: this means you can upgrade to a bigger unit for less than £5 a month.
