Ice and cold temperatures may be heading our way in the coming weeks. This weather often causes traffic chaos, so many of us will likely be working from home.
Are you a remote worker worried about staying warm? With these great tips, your home office will be nice and warm in no time.
Close All Doors
Of course, you’ll keep the windows closed, but it also helps to keep the door to your home office shut to keep the heat inside.
Plus, you only need to heat the space you’re using, which can save on energy costs. Don’t forget to close your curtains or blinds when it gets dark for added insulation.
Wear Layers
The best way to keep yourself warm is by wearing multiple layers of clothing. Your body heat gets trapped between the layers, making it harder for warmth to escape.
Try a thermal vest or a long-sleeve shirt and layer wool, cotton, or fleece clothing on top.
Wear leggings under your pants and keep your feet warm! Cold feet can lower your body temperature, so opt for slippers or thick socks.
Blankets
Hoodie blankets or oversized sweaters will keep you nice and warm while working at your desk. Or consider investing in an electric blanket!
Electric blankets keep you warm at a much lower cost than central heating. Drape one over your legs and let the cold know it’s not welcome.
Move around
Everyone knows movement generates heat. No wonder sitting still all day makes you feel cold.
Take regular breaks and warm up your body. Set an alarm clock to remind yourself to stand up and move around before you start feeling too chilly.
Warm Drinks and Meals
A warm lunch, like soup, can raise your body temperature. Studies show that eating regularly, drinking warm beverages, and having at least one hot meal a day can help keep you comfortably warm.
Reflect the Heat
If you’re using the radiator, consider adding radiator foil to reflect the heat back into the room.
The foil is placed behind the radiator and simply bounces the warmth back into the space, preventing it from escaping through the walls.
You can also use a small portable heater to quickly warm up your room.
