The Coronavirus inspires many of us to declutter our homes, but it’s also a good time to consider clearing our mind and starting anew.
We have a few tips for you, all geared towards helping you declutter your mind and creating some mental headspace.
Clear up your personal space
A clear space makes for a clear mind. By getting rid of all that physical clutter and baggage that you are holding onto but you no longer need, you’ll help to lighten your mental load almost instantly.
Start a journal
Sometimes, random thoughts, feelings, to dos, worries, and ideas are floating around our head, clogging up our mental space.
By keeping a journal, you’ll be able to release thoughts from your brain, organise them, face them, take action on them and make some room for fresh ones.
After doing this for a few days, you’ll notice a difference – and by documenting your thoughts, you’ll no longer feel the urge to cling onto them at all costs.
Let go of what’s been and gone
A lot of mental clutter relates to the past. Get rid of anything that’s weighing you down.
Take the time to go through those mental archives and discard any memories of the past that are clogging up your present existence.
Take the positive – or lesson – from each mistake you’ve made, use that to improve your present situation and throw the rest away.
You can’t change it so you’d might as well not dwell on it every waking hour.
Meditate
This notion may sound a little out there to some, but meditation helps you to learn how to focus your mind entirely on the moment at hand.
When you manage to put all of your attention on one thing, like your breathing, all other thoughts begin to fade away.
Doing this for five minutes every day will essentially wash your mind out, giving you a cleansed, floaty feeling that will help you soak up new information and go about your day with a spring in your step.
We hope these mental decluttering tips will help you clear up your headspace, leaving you feeling peaceful, happy and brand-new.
